Big capacity to hold up to ten eggs in a two-tier construction

OUR VERDICT

EDITORS RATING

EXCELLENT

The Cuisinart CEC-10 costs slightly more than other egg cookers in the market, but it does that with a host of features that are worth every extra buck. For instance, instead of the usual 6-egg capacity, this one cooks up to 10 eggs, has an alert beep and LED blink to notify you when the eggs are ready.

Eggs are a complicated affair to master. A few seconds in-between means that you prepare them raw or awfully overcooked. For those of us who can get it right, the Cuisinart CEC-10 Egg Central Egg Cooker is here to help us handle this finicky item, by simply automating the entire process with a beep to remind you once everything is done.

Plus, it lets you perfect other delicate preparation styles including boiling up to 10 eggs, making a 3-egg omelette, four-poached eggs and steaming.

Design

The Cuisinart CEC-10 is unique and stylish. For those who need some aesthetic in a contemporary kitchen, this one is a great addition. It has a modern sleek design, with a polished steel lid set in a smooth finish, which, apart from making it look great, makes it durable too. On the inside, this egg cooker is made of stainless steel, which is very welcome over the plastic one you get in the market.

Unlike most egg cookers, the Cuisinart CEC-10 (as the name suggests) has a big capacity to hold up to ten eggs in a two-tier construction, allowing you boil all ten eggs at once. If you’re after saving time and need to boil eggs for the family, this one cuts on the duration and effort you’d spend in the kitchen.

Poached Eggs

With the above features, you have a functional egg cooker to get going, but this one offers more. It comes with a 180ml measuring beaker with which you can measure the exact amount of water needed to boil your eggs to the desired consistency – hard boiled, medium boiled or, soft boiled. The measuring cup has a pin at the bottom for making holes at the egg’s end, for easy removal of shells.

If versatility is something you’re looking for, the Cuisinart CEC-10 is worth having at the top of your list. This cooker comes with a tray where you can poach 4 eggs at a time, and a separate omelet tray that can hold up to 3 eggs. Finally, this 600-watt hard boiled cooker will fit on most kitchentops, measuring 7.1 inches wide and 7.5 inches high, and weighing only 2.1 pounds.

Usage

At first, the Cuisinart CEC-10 looks complex, but it’s straightforward to use. All you do is pop out the built-in cord from the base, open the stainless-steel lid (you can clean it easily as well) and you’re ready to prepare your eggs. If you need to boil eggs, just add water into the base jar and in 5-15 minutes you get smooth to hardened eggs, depending on the texture you choose.

The egg piercer comes handy as it helps prevent the eggs from cracking and makes removing shells easy. On the measuring beaker, you have marking that guide eon the amount of water to fill in order to get soft, medium or hard-boiled eggs. There are two egg trays, so you can use them to hold up to 10 eggs and have them boiled simultaneously.

There is a blue LED indicator and an audible alert as well as standby mode to notify you when the eggs are ready. An auto-shut off feature would be better, but you’re notified by a beep and a blue-blink, anyway.

To that, this egg cooker adds a 4-egg poaching tray and 3 egg capacity tray which you can use to even steam salads, ideal for a medium size family that enjoys eating desserts. The egg holder is removable, which allows for fast cooling of your eggs outside the cooker once they are ready.

Cuisinart CEC-10 Review | Verdict

The Cuisinart CEC-10 costs slightly more than other egg cookers in the market, but it does that with a host of features that are worth every extra buck. For instance, instead of the usual 6-egg capacity, this one cooks up to 10 eggs, has an alert beep and LED blink to notify you when the eggs are ready.

It sports a stylish, durable stainless-steel construction; while the cheaper ones are made of plastic. And, it gets a 4-egg poaching tray and a 3-egg omelet tray which is an excellent addition to have in an egg cooker.

If you don’t want to spend more and not interested in a metallic design and the other extra features, consider the low-priced Dash Rapid Egg Cooker, with a 6-eggs capacity. It’s made of plastic but looks stylish too.

But if yours is a medium family that requires excellent eggs with consistent texture, the Cuisinart CEC-10 Egg Central Egg Cooker is worth having at the top of your short list. It is our Editor’s Choice for budget egg cookers.
