EDITORS RATING

GOOD

The Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill is a good burr grinder for those on a shoestring budget that can’t accommodate the more expensive burr grinders out there.

The Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill is an affordable coffee grinder, but that doesn’t mean it is of inferior quality. Yes, it sells for a less than a quarter of its direct competitors, but it produces long quality coffee – just like its name.

This entry-level grinder offers lots of features that coffee-holics will love, but I was particularly impressed by the burr mill that replaces the dated blades. With a burr mill, it means this means that your fresh beans are ground to the best consistency and texture. For the sleek design and strong grinding performance, the Cuisinart DBM-8 earns our Top Pick budget coffee grinder.

What we like about the Cuisinart DBM-8

Cuisinart has priced and packaged the DBM-8 to be appealing enough and makes a compelling case for it in design and ease of use. Particularly, when pitted against blade grinders at this price range, it easily emerges tops.

A really nice design

Small. Good-looking. Easy to use. The Cuisinart DBM-8 is designed for the newbies who don’t need something complicated. If all you need is grind your beans and enjoy your brew on the go, the DBM-8 Mill is for you.

For the modern kitchen, the aluminum finish and the glass bean hopper (8-oz capacity) with a black lid looks awesome on the kitchen countertop. Despite having an all-plastic body, this grinder lives up to the standards of Cuisinart’s other products, which ensures that it looks good in your kitchen.

Portable, Easy to store

At just 6 x 7.13 x 10.75 inches with the bean hopper attached, and weighing only 4.7 lbs., the Cuisinart DBM-8 is compact and lightweight enough to carry around in the home. Plus, it won’t occupy much space whether you’ll store it in the countertop or inside a cabinet, you can even use it in a kitchenette that doesn’t have much space.

Good grinding quality

This coffee mill offers 18 stepped grind-size, ranging from ‘fine’ to ‘coarse’ which is more than you’re getting from expensive coffee grinders. Cuisinart claims that it can grind espresso, but we’re not sure if you’ll get espresso at its finest setting, unless you’re using a pressurized portafilter.

Still, it may not come even close to the espresso you get at your local café. That said, the 18-tier grind size makes for good grind consistency, especially at this price range.

What we don’t like

If you want highly consistent grind, this may not be the grinder for you. While the low price is attractive, the Capresso 560.01 Infinity the deal as the best grinder for beginners. It costs slightly more than Cuisnart’s Burr Mill, but it is more capable; and the OXO BREW Conical Burr grinder adds an integrated scale. And, if you’re looking at a great shot of espresso or a fresh cup of pour-over, this may not be the grinder for you.

Bottom Line

The Cuisinart DBM-8 is a good burr grinder for those on a shoestring budget that can’t accommodate the more expensive burr grinders out there. Again, many coffee enthusiasts definitely would do with an inexpensive burr grinder to crush the beans for a refreshing shot of coffee from the drip machine. If that describes you, the Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill is a sure way to go.
